Mobility Program Academic Exchange

The purpose of this article is to review the experience in networks and Mobility Program Academic Exchange (PIMA) to develop, as appropriate, the academic recognition of studies pursued in an institution's program for university studies belonging to another network .

Today in Latin America there is a system of comparability and recognition of studies similar to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), developed in the European Union as a result of the experience of the program Socrates-Erasmus student mobility, which occurs automatic recognition. The long experience has enabled mobility program to develop highly sophisticated instruments.

Since the beginning of the design took into account PIMA this lack of consensus and common models to the region that would allow a clear and simple recognition, but stipulated as a condition of program viability ensure that student mobility was accompanied recognition for their studies. The university adopted a clear decision in this regard, while recognizing institutional diversity in the region, requiring a progressive development of criteria to bring transparency and methodological proposals to fruition in the recognition of studies.

For coordinators (institutional and academic) was raised from the outset the need to work on the difficulties involved in the project, the need for agreements between different universities. However, it was the sharing of a number of criteria and documents through which capture them, as defined in the following pages.
