Senior Russian and American officials said on Wednesday that they were prepared to put a bizarre spy case behind them, even as the episode remained a matter of intense fascination to the Russian news media and the public. In Moscow, the American ambassador, Michael A. McFaul, was summoned to a meeting at the Russian Foreign Ministry, where he was told once again about Russia’s outrage over what Russian officials depicted as a failed effort by a Central Intelligence Agency officer to recruit a Russian security official as a spy. The man Russia said was a C.I.A. officer, identified as Ryan C. Fogle, was officially posted at the American Embassy as a political officer. Mr. Fogle was arrested on Monday night, and released to the embassy on Tuesday with orders that he leave the country as soon as possible.

Bangladesh is evacuating one million people with Cyclone Mahasen expected to hit its low-lying delta coast on Thursday evening, said the United Nations, which estimated 4.1 million people were at risk due to gale-force winds, heavy rain and flooding. Bangladesh has raised its storm warning to seven, on a scale with a maximum of 10, as Mahasen approaches one of the poorest countries in Asia with winds of around 60 mph.

The Voyager 1 spacecraft is a 722 kg space probe launched by NASA on September 5, 1977 to study the outer Solar System and interstellar medium. Operating for 35 years, 8 months, and 11 days as of 16 May 2013. At a distance of about 124.02 AU (1.855×1010 km) it is the farthest man-made object from Earth and is currently traveling in a previously unknown region of space. It is still unclear whether this region is part of interstellar space or an area within the Solar System.
