Students representation at the University of Cauca is really a full representation or maybe this is similar to the traditional politic but small scale?

Generally in most educational institutions there is a representation model which falls from different aspects. Being an institution that works with business logic, this showing a hierarchy and a specific role for each group of people, for example, students, teachers, clerks, managers etc. In this regard, it is important to mention that students are one of the most important and largest groups within the university, since it is ultimately for them that the university operates and exists.

University is a large scale institucion and this influence not only in the city but also in the country and the world, which is why there are many political, economic and social behind it. This institution handles thousands of people and the decisions that were taken are of great influence for society.

The University of Cauca, for example, laws have determined that there is a higher council which has 9 members, which are distributed as follows. 1 representative of the President of the Republic, 1 representative of the department of Cauca, 1 representative of academic policies, 1 representative of the former rectors, one alumni representative, one representative of the productive sector, 1 representative of teachers ,and 1 representative of students.

Student representation should be seen as educational activity has two clear axes which are to guarantee the presence of students in university life and student interlocution have permanently and continuously, ensuring the participation of students in the joint decision-making.

One of the most special is that students who want to be part of this group socialize their proposals only a few weeks before the election, showing an expedited manner what will be their leadership project.

As popular votes the election event of candidates is ambiguous, the proposed candidates are known a week before voting and normality are presented as possible candidates, with common interests seemingly in accordance with the needs of students, people interested in the smooth running of the university regulations, students willing to put their time, work and effort to make such proposals during the campaign period, and following regular conduct of voting, invite students to support the cause that concerns us all;

These are some of the perceptions of students in general with respect to the advertising of candidates: "Candidates are going from classroom to classroom to interrupt teachers, no one pays attention", "It's very odd that there print advertising in high quality because we are public university students have no money for that, the common medium is the photocopy but interestingly there was a group of candidates who invested in an expensive
