FITNESS AND HEALTH

1.- INTRODUCTION: THE NEED FOR A GOOD PHYSICAL CONDITION

When we talk about general FITNESS, we immediately think of a more colloquial expression that we understand better: "being fit". If we are in shape we can face physical work in very good conditions and with many possibilities of success. This means that our physical condition is optimal. A good physical condition will help you:

  • Be in good health and you will have less risk of injury. This increases your quality of life.
  • Facing daily tasks (studying, going to class, helping at home, playing sports) without getting too tired, and you will even have enough energy to enjoy your free time and to face unforeseen events that arise (an unexpected race to catch the bus ).
  • You will feel much more sure of yourself and face life with more optimism.

2.- CAUSES OF DETERIORATION OF PHYSICAL CONDITION

There are certain causes that limit our physical condition or contribute to its deterioration, these are mainly:

Lack of exercise, overeating, poor nutrition, stress, and tobacco and alcohol use.

All of them can have as a consequence the impoverishment of cardiac capacity, injuries, obesity and many others that harm health and that manifest themselves little by little: slight loss of strength and flexibility, increase in heart rate per minute, accelerated breathing minimal effort, back pain, etc.

3.- CAN WE IMPROVE OUR PHYSICAL CONDITION?

At birth we have marked some factors that will determine that, when older, we have a good, very good or excellent physical condition. However, we will not reach the level that we have established if we do not do something to develop it. In other words, a very important component of physical condition depends on the work we do to improve it.

In other words, if you want to improve your physical condition, you have to work on it. Now the following question arises: what can I do to improve or increase my physical condition? The first thing you need to know to understand the answer is that physical condition consists of a series of components that we are going to study separately. These components are called qualities and are:

The development of these physical qualities determines a good form or physical condition and they are the basis or the foundations on which to build any skill, both sporting (shooting at the basket, shooting at goal, etc.) and utilitarian (everyday life).
