The need for changes in Unifide High School

Like all the changes of the government that always happen in Ecuador, it is always cause the polemic in the habitants, but in this case we are not just referring like economical or social problems, rather the future of the people who will change the society, I mean us. The students of first and second year of high school who want to choose what they want to be and worst those who really don’t know from which way to go; we as students have a very big possibility of having good help which are the specializations, but there is a new law cited by the Undersecretary of Education District of Guayaquil, Monica Franco, of the elimination of this ones, which will and take place on April 2012 the coast and high land with the first high school and on April 2013 in high land and April 2014 in coast with the second high school. So despite of what the Undersecretary of Education will said, the question is if the new Unified High School (name of the program), will and will not change the expectative of choosing what students want to be in their lives.

With these, all this changes we need to prepare our teachers to be able to teach in these new Bachelors, so the initiative will start in January, February and March. They will make all the teachers to have basic information of all the subjects because now in all our high school years we will learn everything as in the beginning and some teachers need knowledge of all kinds. The new bachelor unified will consist in 40 periods per week. The First and Second years will have 35 academic periods and in the Third year will have their common stock with 20 academic periods in which it includes many changes like in the Social Studies and History Subjects will inject “Meeting of the Civilizations”, “Medieval Society” which will explain the “Expansion of the Christianity”, “The Power of the Church”, the “Geographical expansion of Islam and it’s artistic and scientific contributions to the Western world in general” and finally “Americas”.

The Undersecretary of Education District of Guayaquil said that there are a lot of good reasons why the government takes these changes so unexpected for all of us like one of the most important which is the necessity to give new generations a look more in keeping with the present time both the country and the world, Integrate curriculum in one of the above specialties (more electives that students can choose) and reduce the high rate of loss of the year and dropouts in the universities, and other important reasons which the District noted in the majority of Ecuadorian students, high school as well as basic cycle, like change the High School ill – prepared, consequently of they lose cycles or stay in school or university, motivated not enough for students chosen careers, supposedly for the reason of Bachelor’s specialties which have low qualify of media studies for example, and should strengthened.
