Read the extract from a Fairtrade brochure and answer the questions:

What are the objectives of the Fairtrade Foundation?

The objective of this project is to help the poorest communities in different regions.

The assistance provided is selling products generated in these communities for the rest of the world knows and so can buy them anywhere, so more trade is generated in poor communities.

How can towns participate in Fairtrade programs?

People who want to participate in this project should contact the foundation FAIRTRADE people working here discussed the steps they must follow to enter the project

An example of this is that they must arrange a meeting at which expose the product you want to market and give free samples.

Your town council has set up a meeting to decide whether to apply for Fairtrade status. Choose one of the role cards on pages (170-171)
