Book report of The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas

The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas is a novel that is told from the viewpoint of a 9-year-old German boy named Bruno. Bruno is the privileged son of a Nazi commandant during World War II.

Summary of book

Bruno is quite lonely and doesn't understand why he can't play with the children that he can see from his window , children all dressed in the same striped pajamas. Then he realizes they aren't all children, but also men of all ages, all wearing the same striped pajamas.

Bruno tries to entertain himself around the house since his parents don't want him to do any exploring. He and his sister have lessons at the house instead of going to school. Eventually, Bruno decides to sneak out to explore the area. He meets a boy his age named Shmuel. Shmuel wears the striped pyjama.

CHARACTERS

Bruno: is the protagonist of the story. It is a German child of tender years (about eight years) son of a SS officer. Throughout history (which shows how Bruno sees things) you can see the evolution and the thoughts that Bruno is about "the farm" (which is actually a concentration camp) and its members, who wear a stranger striped pyjamas.

Shmuel: is a Jewish boy of the same age as Bruno (because they were born on the same day) imprisoned in the concentration camp. Bruno knows when it ventures to cross the gate of the field. Shmuel, unlike Bruno, is malnourished and dirty.

BOOK DETAILS: PLOT

The plot of the book is as the innocence leads him to discover that passed the other side where the Jews lived.

EVALUATION AND CONCLUSION

I think he would have lengthened a little the book.

The story is very violent.
