When we listen to a language we do not know we process it as just a sound, but actually it is the history and the culture of a civilization. Speaking a language is a source of pride, but in our opinion speaking a endangered language is a responsibility. We argue that Guarani, Ava speakers should preserve their language by teaching it and promoting it. In the following paragraphs we will be talking about the History of Guarani, Ava, the basic information of this civilization and what the government is doing to revitalize this language.

Guarani is a language that has fight through time and civilization. Guarani means warrior and that’s the best word to describe this language. Sense the European discover this region of South America they try to establish all their culture and beliefs but Guarani find a way to survive. The Guaranis offered their woman’s for marriage for the Spanish. As a consequence they have children’s and these learn Guarani and Spanish. In this way, despite all the effort they make Guarani will remain as a strong language in fact it was gaining importance.

The Guarani, Ava have 2,060 speakers in Paraguay and it is decreasing. Guarani, Ava, is also known as chiripá in Brazil and Argentina. This language is threatened as consequence of the bilingualism in Spanish and Guarani. It is mainly located on the east of Paraguay sharing a few of speakers with Brazil and Argentina. This group of people have a great knowledge of flowers and their medical power. It is a language that is decreasing but it can be revitalize.

The revitalization of Guarani it is imminent. This language has survive trough time and civilizations therefore it was time to be recognize by the society. The government of Paraguay has made a great effort to develop this language by making it the second official language of Paraguay in 1992. Since then Guarani it is being taught in primary schools and it counts with a variety of books. As a result this language has gone from being stigmatized by society to a language use by people of all ages.
