La Marihuana

1.- The Cannabis Sativa is a species of plant with psychoactive properties. It has been used for milleniums as medicinal plant and also as a chemical agent that acts on the nervous central system, generating temporary changes in perception, mood, conscience and behavior.

“Marijuana” is a term used to name to the buds of the cannabis sativa that are his female flower, with a lot of cannabinoids.

2.- In Chile, marijuana is seen as a hard drug that causes dependence and serious problems to health, for which it is penalized.

However, are more and more the Chileans who consume it openly, so there is much controversy about it and it is very discussed between both parts. This way is like 72% of the Chileans think that consume marijuana is socially accepted, according to a study of central university.

3.- About its evolution, years ago, marijuana was mainly used for medicinal purposes, therefore was accepted for the society.

Years after, cannabis was known as a source of pleasure and good times, taking place of alcohol, so it began to be banned in many parts of the world.

Actually, marijuana has amassed around the world, but there are countries like Chile where its use is punishable by law.

4.- Marijuana benefits are of medicinal kind, it acts against nausea, chronic pain, stress, depression, migraine, among others.

However, marijuana increases heart rate, taking a risk of suffering a heart attack, lung damage, memory loss and loss of coordination.

5.- Most of people tried marijuana for first time when they were teenagers.

There are many reasons why some children and teens start smoking marijuana. Many young people smoke marijuana because they see their brothers, friends or even family adults who use it, or because they feel pressured by their friends.

Also because they think it makes them cool and finally there are some guys who believe that smoking some kind of drug will help them to scape of their problems.

6.- Any preventive action to drugs starts with love and affection from the family and friends, having much sincerity when we talk about it that is to say a good communication.

However, the latest decision is only of young people, but parents should take care and let them know the consequences of the use of marijuana.

7.- We think that marijuana has good things but there are also harms that are very similar to those of alcohol, so it shouldn’t be considered as a hard drug and should be decriminalized your intake gradually, because as country we are not ready for a change so abrupt of mentality in our society .
