What does it mean cancer ? loosing the control of your body progresively? Something that involves dying slowly and painfully? For me cancer is something that has taken away some people I loved the most. Cancer is the leading cause of deaths in the world with more then 8 millions of deaths each year. In Ecuador the most letal cancer is stomach cancer with a 11% of mortality of all people with cancer. Althought cancer is an ununcurable desase, some types of it are avoidable, Stomach cancer is one of this, and we all can prevent it by taking care of our eating habits. Unfortunately, eating meat is one of the strongest eating habits above all the world. And thats no accident. since we are little we are taught how important is meat for us, and meat industry advertisements reforence this perception. Meat is a necesary source of iron and protein, if you do not eat meat you would get anemia. But are these arguments totally true or are they just advertisements of the millonare meat industry? There are some aspects taht evidence that eating meat is not as healthy and necesary as is shown, thats why a vegetarian diet is not only the best way to prevent stomatch deseases, but it is also the best source of nutrition and Going animal-free helps maintain a healthy weight.

First, Food from animals contain their waste as: colesterol, adrenaline, uric and lactic acid. Also, a variety of benzenes and other carcinogenic compounds that are produced when meat is cooked using high-temperature methods, such as pan frying or grilling directly over an open flame. Even more, the correlation between meat consumption and a wide range of degenerative diseases is well founded and includes: Osteoporosis, Kidney Stones and Gallstones, Diabetes, Multiple Sclerosis, Arthritis, Gum disease and Obesity. when you do not eat meat, and consume more vegetables and fruits, you can reduce the risks of getting this desaseases and even prevent them becauuse substances found in plants contain vitamin C, B-17, hydroquionenes, beta carotene, NDGA, - none has been found to be animal derived. One example is Soybeans, one meat substitude contain protease inhibitor, a powerful anticancer compound.

Second, Meat is frecuently shown as a great source of nutrients, actually it is a s of iron and protein, but expect from the b complex it is deficient in carbohydrates, and in vitamines. Plants, specially grains, are awesome sources of proteins, and vegetables such as soybeajs, quinoa, white beans, spinach and lenteis are great sorces of iron. aditional, fruits andnvegetable contain vitamines and nutrients that meat can not offer. There is no nutrient necessary for optimal human functioning which cannot be obtained from plant food.

Finally, Studies confirm that vegetarians tend to be thinner than meat eaters. Obesity is considered by doctors to be a disease within itself, and animal food contrbue to
