Homework 1

Many years ago, when I was a child, I remember that I enjoyed talking with my grandmother about her anecdotes of growing up in a farm and how young people forget the love to earth and prefer making money. I don’t remember her exactly words, but she transmited me her feeling about the important things: family and land. Today, I haven’t been able to forget.

I remember that at night, we shared a cup of tea and watched TV late, but I couldn't stop thinking about our last conversation. She is a strong woman, a wise woman and I knew that she was totally right about that important things are not money, fame or power.

Next morning, she woke me up early, then, She said smiling “Today, we are going to plant a lemon tree”. “ A lemon tree Grandma?. But there are a lot of them in the yard”. -I replied- Then, She said “This tree will be special, because It will be your tree. You gonna take care of it, and someday you will enjoy its fruits and the benefits of these”. “I’m pretty sure that someday you will understand that it’s a important thing”.

We planted seeds of lemon tree that day. I took care of it for several years.

Today, It’s a huge tree and I’m being honest when I say “It's lemons juice is exquisite”.

I learned to love my country, the land, my family and the most important thing that I learned was hardwork and perseverance pays off. I think the teaching of this action (a lemon tree) is that to enjoy the good things in life you only need a little effort and dedication.
