Traditional medicine vs Conventional medicine
By: José Enrique Rodríguez and Michelle Estephanya Lugo
I s Traditional medicine better than Conventional medicine?. Some people use to think that Conventional medicine has many chemicals that react with our body and deal us even more damage than the problem that we are trying to solve. However, some people also thinks that Traditional medicine does not even work. In the next article we are going to explain the differences that each other have and which one is better.
Traditional medicine is defined as “the sum total of the knowledge, skills, and practices based on the theories, beliefs, and experiences indigenous to different cultures, whether explicable or not, used in the maintenance of health as well as in the prevention, diagnosis, improvement or treatment of physical and mental illness”. While conventional medicine is defined as “forms of alternative medicine to refer to mainstream medical use of pharmacologically active agents or physical interventions to treat or suppress symptoms or pathophysiologic processes of diseases or conditions”. This means that Traditional medicine uses natural resources, beliefs and methods that are not proved scientifically while conventional medicine is based on science.
It depends in the opinion of the person which medicine he wants to use. There are many opinions in favor of both sides. In our opinion traditional medicine is better due to is proved scientifically that it works and it must heal us.
