Antibiotics use present and future:

Drugs were viewed as miracle drugs because they were introduced at the time when only surgical intervention or spontaneous cures were available to treat serious bacterial infections, during a short period of time a lot of new antibiotics were introduced such as sulfonamides, thrimethoprim and penicillin’s and variations of these as well. Unfortunately lately a lot of bacteria groups have developed a certain resistance to these antibiotics, nowadays this infections can still be treated with antibiotics available used alone or paired with other antibiotics as well, but surely the resistance can cause an increasing number o clinical failures .

In the past diagnose of meningitis or pneumonia where surely a death sentence, so the advance of antibiotics was in fact a miracle, the provide doctors a wide range of options to treat bacterial infections, after de first years of use of penicillin, bacteria became resistant to this treatment since de 1960´s a increasing number of bacteria had became resistant to antibiotics.

Current Antibiotic Classes:

Sulfonamides along with thrimethoprim are the base of treatments for urinary infections, and penicillin is used to treat such things as syphilis and streptococcal infections, cephalosporins are quite useful in nosocomial infections, Carbapenems have activity against Gram –positive and Gram –Negative bacteria such as Pseudomonas, aminoglycosides are inject able antibiotics that can be use in the treatment of Gram-Negative bacteria sepsis , and paired with other antibiotics they can be used to treat tuberculosis. Clindamycin is used to treat anaerobic infections just to name a few, in comparison with other decades there are not many new antibiotics , and so bacteria had demonstrated they have an amazing evolving capability to resist the effects of these treatments.

Clearly the auto medication has been a factor to this resistant of bacteria, not long ago antibiotics where not at all control and they could be found almost anywhere, part of the resistant of bacteria to antibiotics is due to people not taking their treatments the way they should, each particular treatment must be supervise by a doctor y and the dose to administrate should be base on the persons weight and age, if the patient does not complete the treatment for sure bacteria will manage to find a way to resist the antibiotics, ipso facto doctors have to use more and more “stronger” antibiotics to treat this bacterial infections, so the production of new antibiotics doesn’t run as fast as bacteria evolve against treatments, in a not so far future we could expect bacteria groups that are largely resistant to antibiotics causing infections that used to be common to become dangerous to humans, also we could expect newer bacteria infections that cannot be treated with the antibiotics available now.
