MARGARET THATCHER
Margaret Hilda Thatcher, was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1979 to 1990 and the Leader of the Conservative Party from 1975 to 1990. She was the longest-serving British Prime Minister of the 20th century and is currently the only woman to have held the office .Thatcher was born in Grantham, Lincolnshire, on 13 October 1925 and died on April 8, 2013 at age 87.
ACTIONS:
The Iron Lady reform the system of local taxes by replacing domestic duties with Community charge, or poll tax, in which all adult residents paid the same amount.
Other action is that his government introduced bills to curb union militancy and privatizing state industries, whose goal was to allow the people to buy their homes or purchase shares in state enterprises; and with that, she managed to integrate millions of people in the economy.
As prime minister was focused on fixing the country's finances by reducing the role of the state and promote the free market. She did this by cutting inflation, decreasing direct taxes on income and increased indirect taxes.
Sse restructured the labor system of the country, forcing unions to hold a vote of its members before calling a strike, with economic hardship if not comply.
