The Diary of Anne Frank Act 1

The story takes place in Amsterdam, Holland in November of the year 1945. It  starts with Mr. Frank, who after remembering sad memories breaks up;He is suddenly visited by his good friend Miep Gies, who wanted to give him her support, after the lost of his family...After discussing the fact that Mr. Frank wanted to leave Amsterdam, he found a diary, Anne Frank`s Diary; A thirteen years old girl, who was born in a Jewish family, in Germany in the year 1929.

The Frank family was permanently obligated to keep into hiding, because of the German dictator Adolf Hitler, who persecuted the Jews.Their hiding place, also called the “Secret Annex”, was located upstairs in the building where his father used to work at. The Van Daan family, Mr.Frank’s friends,joined them. The family  was conformed by Mr and Mrs Van Dan, and their son Peter who own a cat named Mouschi.

Miep and Mr. Kraler helped both families, to organize the place and to divide the bedrooms as well, to be the most comfortable as possible. To maintain themselves safe, they must obeyed certain rules like being quite as possible, not speaking too loud, not run any water, between others. It was such a hard situation especially for Anne, who had such a peculiar personality...

The members of both families started to establish themselves in their new “home”, they also tried to established conversation between them in order to get to know each other better. In the main room Peter and Anne were talking about his cat, about school and about the yellow stars on their clothes, which were used as symbols of Judaism or to recognize Jews from other people; When Mr. Frank asked her to grab a box, where she found a diary, a gift from her dad. She immediately started to write all her daily life experiences.

Anne felt that her relationship with her mother, Mrs. Frank, never changed, they never talked about serious situations or problems; She kept on treating Anne like such a little girl, and always wanted her  to be more like her big sister Margot, who had a better behavior and who was also more quiet than she was...That`s the main reason for why Anne had more confidence with her dad.

Mr. Kraler came upstairs, to tell the families that if they may allow him to take a dentist called Dussel , Miep`s Dirk friend, into the hiding place; They accepted and fortunately got along very well, Mr. Dussel had a special respect and certain admiration for Mr. Frank.

The Act ends in the first Hanukkah  night, a Jewish Celebration that lasts eight days. Both Mr. and Mrs. Frank prayed during the celebration. Everyone ate dinner together, read some poetry and sang as well. Anne made some improvised presents for everyone, they were really happy and shocked at the same time, because of the hard situation that they were passing trough, they thought they were unable to celebrate as they used to...Suddenly when Mr. Frank was about to blow a candle,  they heard some strange noises and they were all really afraid of it. They first thought it was the green police, but they certainly realized that it was just a thief, who ran away afraid. Danger had passed and they all gave thanks to God... They hopefully didn’t lose faith, and rejoiced together singing the Hanukkah song...
