DNA Banks, Good Idea?
-DNA banks has been used throughout some years, but recently DNA banks has found a real purpose for exist.
-Advances in Biotechnology and genetic engineering allowed DNA banks to have more benefits to offer.
Today DNA banks have services of preservation of DNA (sperm), distinction of DNA, pattern tests and biology partnership.
The problem with DNA Banks are that it cause some controversy that is why DNA banks starts to been popular recently. DNA Banks offers excellent services to help our daily life, and thought this article where going to review the different techniques and services DNA Banks can offer to us.
-Paternity test and biology partnership:
Even if it seems so natural that today we know with certainty who is our father, the truth is that in the early twentieth century was still no answer to this question. With the progress of science, DNA testing appeared that solve these issues with 100% security. The idea is to isolate a DNA strand of father, mother and one son. They do act on an enzyme that becomes asymmetric fragments. A fragment of the child should coincide in length with one of the mother or the father. If half of the DNA fragments match the alleged father then no question of paternity. In fact, it has become increasingly easier to determine if someone is the father of a small or it is not. The current work paternity tests based on DNA equivalence between parents and children, allowing almost 100% chance be sure of our progeny.
-preservation of DNA post mortem:
Funeral company is responsible for taking the necessary samples and send to our lab where DNA is extracted by protocoled methodology.
The objective of the preservation of DNA post mortem is to extract DNA for physical storage and immobilization FTA paper. This role is specifically tried to bind DNA and protect it from degradation. For analysis, a small piece of paper shaped FTA disk containing the DNA sample to be used for the analytical process is drilled. Therefore, genetic analysis enables the family when its needed.
