Water is very important because it is needed by almost every organism to survive. One way to conserve the water you use daily is, to find ways on how to use it twice. It is possible to take water that has been used once and use it again to water outdoor plants. “Greywater” is literally the water that comes from the laundry, kitchen, bathroom faucets, baths, and showers. Recycling it has become more attractive to owners of commercial buildings for the savings in energy and environmental benefits. Ornamental plants are plants which are grown for display purposes, rather than functional ones. The purpose of this experiment is to find out if “Greywater” is suitable for irrigating ornamental plants. The “Greywater” was prepared by washing several clothes in pails. Ten ornamental plants were planted and divided into two groups: “experimental group” and “control group”. The “experimental group” was watered with “Greywater and the “control group” with tap water. Three cups of water was spilled daily, into each plant. Daily observations were made and were recorded in the lab notebook. When analyzing the results of the experiment, it was clear that the plants from the “control group” which grew an average of 1.6 inches per week had a better growth than the plants from the “experimental group” which grew an average of 1.5 inches per week. With that comparison, the hypothesis, which stated that “Greywater” was suitable for use in ornamental plants, was accepted, because it did not affect the plants.
