What are headaches? What causes headaches?
A headache is defined as "a pain or ache in the head...It accompanies many diseases and conditions, including emotional distress.”
Headaches are one of the most common symptoms that can be experienced. Most people will experience a headache at some point of their lives. They can affect anyone regardless of age and gender.
The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that around 47% of the world's adult population will have experienced a headache within the last year. As well as being symptoms of other conditions, headache disorders can lead to the development of other illnesses.
A cephalalgia is a pain anywhere in the head or neck. This can be caused by different conditions in those areas.
The pain is not caused in the brain itself, but in the areas around it. The International Headache Society studies and classifies the types of headaches.
The treatment mostly involves pain killers, but a proper diagnose is required for a correct elimination of the pain. Generic pain relief medication can be bought over the counter, or health care providers can prescribe preventative medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants, anti-epileptic drugs and beta blockers.

Mexican culture is widely known by its superstitions and beliefs that my mix with the nature’s course of science. Headaches are sometimes believed to be caused by weather changes, “Bad Energies”, lack of energy, or stress. This trend has made medicament and holistic salesman rich, because the average Mexican trusts their own methods and knowledge and tends to practice auto medication.
