Introduction

San Francisco de Maoris is the capital of the province Duarte; It is the third largest city in the Dominican Republic, as well as being the eighth most populous. This city has played an important role in Dominican history, one of the most active in the country in economic and social spheres cities.

It is located in the northeast part of the island, along the Jaya River, a tributary of the River Camus, in eastern Cibao Valley (Valle de la Vega Real).
