Activity 10. Code of Ethics
1) What might you have done if you had been the human resource manager in charge of this case?
It will be a difficult problem to solve, because you can´t pretend to change people´s minds. The solution could be giving an ultimatum to the employees that behaved unethically and maybe separating them in different groups, because it is very difficult to make this people with such opposite ideals to go along with each other.
2) What might explain why the corporate code and ethical programs of Lockheed Martin were not effective in preventing harassment issues in the workplace?
Maybe the employee´s indifference towards this code of conduct. Normally the code of Conduct is elaborated to avoid legal issues without giving importance in performing it and following its rules. Employee´s normally don´t act accordingly towards the Code of Conduct´s rules because they haven´t read it from the beginning. Nobody stopped this situation from the beginning, they had to go to court to solve it.
3) What would you recommend to the Vice President of Ethics and Business Conduct of Lockheed Martin?
The Vice President did not get involved in the problem when first noticing it, therefore he should´ve intervened before taking it to legal extremes. Solving it inside the company may be difficult but the problem can´t be avoided.
