Was emperor of the Eastern Roman Empire from the August 1 527 until his death. During his reign, Justinian sought to revive the ancient grandeur of the classical Roman Empire, regaining the lost territories of the Western Roman Empire.
One of the most important personalities of late antiquity and the last emperor who used Latin as their mother tongue, one the government of Justinian marks a milestone in the history of the Eastern Roman Empire. The impact of his administration extended far beyond the borders of their time and their domains.
