The Manila Galleon was perhaps the first great example of globalization and global trade integration. It is known well to the established maritime trade route between Asia 1565-1815, America and Europe, linking, as major ports, to Manila, Acapulco, Veracruz and Seville.
In this paper we provide a wealth of information from its beginnings, its history, its meaning, how it operated and how it disappeared.
We begin by explaining the meaning of the word "Manila Galleon".
"Galleon" refers to a mighty destruction boat that was used for trade or war. Since the mid-sixteenth century galleon ship became the main trade of European nations. "Manila" is the capital of the Philippines, a country located in Southeast Asia, in the Pacific Ocean.
Another name by which it is also known to Manila galleon is "The ship of China", the word "ship" in the Castilian has the meaning of "boat", especially when referring to those boats full of deck and sails; and, why of China? because it used to carry goods from China that were traded in the Philippines.
Now, you might wonder why the ship came from China, the main reason for trade between Asia and Europe through America was unable to do so continuously by land, due to lack of means and transport pathways that period.
