This is a story about the sthange Catskill Mountains. There was a man named Rip Van Winkle. He lived inasmall village at the mountains, with hiswite and two children a boy Rip, and a girl named Judith. Hewas a farmer very popular with the people of the village. Because he helps every body. But Rip´s wife was different, she was a terrible woman. She never lets Rip have any peace, shewas always angry with rip because hewas lazy. On his farm henever does any work. He liked fishing ir hunting. He often took his dog Wolf out for awalk, but his wife always followed him and shouted at him, so Rip had anidea walked o pinto the Catskill Mountains, hiswite willnever follow they up there, At last they arrived at one af the hig hest part. They stay a long timme. They night came and Rip saw anold man, and he decided to help him, carrying a barrel up the mountain. Rip followed at a grassy place between thediffs. There were a group of old men playing a game of a pins, then the old man put some big wooden mugs next to the barrel, he filled with poured Golden liquid, Rip took one and drankit, he liked a lot and filled another time, but then he was asleep, Rip woke up, he lookedaroun for this gunand his dog but could not findit. He does´nt feel well, he feel like anold person He walked down and entered at the village, but it seine d to have changed, Rip went to the in, but the old building had di sappeared in its place was a large new building. He entered and ask for his a member of the govement, Rip asked about some ot her Friends they´ve all died or moved away. Heasked about him self, and someone replied it was a man in the outside. Rip was very puzzled. At that momento a woman walked throug the urowd. Rip looked at the woman, shewas Judith Gardenier, shewas his daughter, heasked a bout his wife, and she answered, her mother died not long ago, then he presented as Rip. Van Winkle and a Woman said it´s was true.

Peter Vander donk confirm the story ot Rip. it was the same story his father used to told him. It was the story about Hendrick Hudson, aman who died in 1611 and hestill visits the Cats kill Mountais every twenty years with a group of his Friends.

So Rip was lost twenty years because he went with a ghost of Hendrick Hudson, but he was happy now, hewas free from froubles and he did not heve toeorry about his wife any more.
