R/ Story start when the old man guide to people to mountain called Helseggen, the cloudy and he begins to narrate to them the history of the Maelstrom.

R/ The maelstrom is a whirlpool created when the waves moves everywhere, quickly and angrily sometimes against the wind.

R/ Protagonists is the old man and the sea. Antagonist are brothers.

R/ Is a whirlpool off the northwest coast of Norway. Literally maelstrom mean "grinding-stream”. from malen "to grind" (see meal) + stroom "stream". Is a synonym for “whirlpool” popularized in 1841.

R/ Moskoe-strom, because it is caused in the island of Moscow in the midway.

R/ The boat went round and round. It was down and down toward the bottom where the waters crashed together.

R/ The narrator is the old man, the elder often tells this story to tourists. And says that despite his appearance is that of an old man, this is not so, that everything was caused by the terrible event.

R/ The old man saw pieces of other boats, broken boxes, trees and barrels. He tried to guess “Which things will fall the fastest”, lighter things did not fall faster than heavier ones. Finally he observed barrels were falling very slowly. He decided to tied himself to the water barrel and jumped into the water.

He is best known for his poetry and short stories, particularly his tales of mystery and the macabre, he is considered the inventor of the detective fiction genre and is further credited with contributing to the emerging genre of science fiction.
