Robert and Lucy were in a bedroom.  There was a boy standing staring at them.  He wore a long , brown tunic down to his knees.   He asked Robert  who was he.  Robert said his name and introduce his cousin Lucy to him. Robert explained that they came from the future and  showed him the time travel-phones.   The boy saw the strange object, then smiled and said his name to them.  He was Marcus and his father was a very important man named Magnus Andronicus.  The place was very nice.  Lucy asked If they could stay for a little while to learn about the city and m agreed.

Mar introduced Rob and lu to his father.    Magnus was amazed about the time …..  and he accepted that the children stayed with his family.  Marcus explained that his father was a rich merchant and he was holding a party in honour of Senator Julius that night.

Magnus had a small bronze bust made of the senator as a gift and invited the children to collect it at the bronzesmith´s workshop.  After that he placed the bust on a pedestal in the hallway so that all the guests can admire it as they came in.

Later the guests arrived.  Marcus´s aunt and uncle came with their daughter, Camilla.  Marcus introduced his cousin to the children and said to her that the children were friends.  Senator arrived and  Magnus showed him the bronze bust.  Julius thanked Marcus´s father for the bust.   Salvius the slave of the house admired the bust all the time.  The children were not allowed at the party so Magnus did not allow children in these activities.  They stayed on the upper floor and watched the party below.  Later the children were tired and were fast asleep.

At first, the children think Salvius must be the thief as the bust disappeared.

Next day, Marcus explained that Salvius acted very oddly when his father told him that he is going to the baths in the middle of Rome that afternoon.

Marcus explained that Salvius seemed always unpleasant with the job at the baths.  But now Salvius seemed very pleased to go the baths that day.

Then Camilla said that perhaps he is meeting Veximus there and he is going to sell the bust to him at the baths.

They followed Salvius to the Roman baths.  After a time they saw him talking to another slave.  They think that Salvius and the other slave are working out how to sell the bust to Veximus.

The children decided to write a message to Salvius from Veximus that to meet him at the pottery shop that night.  But Marcus said that Salvius could not read.  Then Lucy said that can send a spoken message.

Later Robert said the message to Salvius.  The slave looked frightened and he run out the courtyard.  Soon the children came to find Robert.  He told them about Salvius.  Then Camilla said that they had four hours to wait to know if Salvius was the thief and have the bronze bust back.
