(SIMPLE PAST TENSE)
The simple past tense isused to describe actions that have happened at an earlier time and who have completed, for exemple:
• She cleaned her house.
• I brokethewindow.
In both forms (interrogative or negative) you must use the auxiliary “DID” which is the past of the verb “TO DO” and accompanies the main verb in its infinitive form.
When you express a sentence in simple past tense it’s understood that the action doesn’t have a relation with the present, like we see in the netx cases:
• He lost the keys.
(It’s posible that he could find them in the present)
• She lent me a book.
(It’s posible that she would already return it).
YES/NO QUESTIONS (CONFIRMATION QUESTIONS OR TAG QUESTIONS)
They are in the end of the sentence. Their objective is confirm or deny the content of the phrase itself. In Spanish means like “RIGHT?”.
THREE BASIC RULES THAT YOU MUST TO REMEMBER
1. The tags questions ALWAYS uses the auxiliary verbs.
2. With affirmative sentence we use negative tags questions.
3. With negative sentence we use affirmative tags questions.
TRES REGLAS BASICAS QUE DEBES RECORDAR
1. Los tags preguntas utilizan SIEMPRE LOS verbos auxiliares.
2. Con Oraciones afirmativas utilizamos sin etiqueta en cuestión NEGATIVO.
3. Con Oraciones Negativas utilizamos sin questiontag en AFIRMATIVO o POSITIVO .
