REQUIEM FOR A DREAM

The film tells the history of Harry Goldfarb, his mother Sara Goldfarb, his girlfriend Marion Silver and his friend Tyrone. The history is divided in three stations: summer, fall and winter.

It begins in summer, shows the dreams of each one: Sara wants to go to her favorite TV show, Harry and Marion plan to open a store with the money that they get for selling their designs. Tyrone looks the way for leave the hard life in the streets. Sara wants to be thin and go to her favorite TV show, she believes she was invited to the TV show and she begins to use drugs, in order to shine her new red dress in the TV show. Harry and Tyrone traffic drugs, Harry and Marion want to open a store for sell their designs. They are addicted but of the heroin. Tyrone lives on the street and he is poor, Marion has a rich family but she fell into drugs and Harry loves his mother but his addiction keeps them separate.

In fall, Sara gets worse, she doubles her dose of amphetamines and she begins to hallucinate, Tyrone goes to prison but Harry and Marion pay his liberation while their relationship goes wrong.

Finally, in winter Sara is hospitalized in a asylum when she is attended with contempt and she receives a electroshock, Marion ends to selling her body in exchange for drugs and money in a party, Harry had to cut off his right arm because he injected himself too much, Tyrone go back to the prison where he should work very hard.

The film ends in the last hallucination of Sara where she gets the highest award, she find her son Harry, who is a business man and he compromised with Marion.
