BUSINESS PLAN
PET RENTAL BUSINESS
Mission statement: To have dogs and cats at the service of people who cannot have a pet in their house due to landlords’ rules, so they can come and rent per hour/day our pets that we have in our business.
Company Background: Our Company was created due to all the high fees a person that wants to rent has to pay if they own a dog. We believe that this shouldn’t happen because if a person have a dog or a cat it doesn’t mean they have to pay extra rent for them. It’s crucial to find an apartment allows pets inside and a lot of people have one, pets are part of a person live. So we came with the idea that if they can’t have a pet, they can rent one for hours.
Service Description: We will have in our store different kinds of dogs and cats, they will be treated with love by our employees. These dogs and cats will be at the service of those who can’t have a pet and really loves animals. They can go to the store, we will ask for an identification to write down all the information of the person and according to the time they want to rent the pet will be the amount of money we will charge. It won’t be a high cost, we will charge because with that money we will feed the animals.
Marketing plan: Our Marketing plan will consist of promotion in parks where people go and walk their pets, we will paste poster near the parks with all our information. Also, we will go to apartment’s buildings to give to the landlords our data in order for them to give the tenants our information if they wish to have a pet but they can’t have one in their home.
Financial Planning: Our incomes will come from the rent of the pets. Before beginning with our business we will invest an amount of money because we need to equip the store with all the needs of a dog or cat because we want them to live in a happy place. We won’t have them in cages, it will consist of a big garden where they can play.
Operations: Our operation will consist of a person that wants to rent a pet because they are pet lovers but they can’t own one. For example, one customer enters the store and they are going to the garden to see the dogs and cats we have, when they choose one we will give them a leash and plastic bags so they can pick up the feces of the dog, before letting them go with our pets, we will ask for an ID and deposit. We are going to rent them for 1, 2, and 6 hours. If they want one day with them, they have to leave us a personal thing to guarantee they are coming back to give us the pet.
Questions:
Do you think it will work in your city?
In my personal opinion I don’t think this kind of business works because everyone has a dog at their house, you go to the park and see almost every person with a dog, and in Mexico is more viable that renters accept dogs and cats with one condition: That if they destroy something of the house/apartment the tenant has to pay it before leaving the house or apartment. So I don’t think is a good idea in my city to open a business like this one
This graph represents a survey that was made in Monterrey about how many families have dogs or cats in their house, so that’s why I don’t think it will work in my city because 80% of families already have a pet.
