This new technology arose for the need to establish a mechanism of wireless connection that was compatible between the different devices .En search of this compatibility was that in 1999 the companies 3com, Strong winds, Intersil, Lucent Technologies, Nokia and Symbol Technologies met to create the Wireless Ethernet Compability Aliance (WECA), nowadays so called Wi-Fi Alliance.
On the following year of his creation the WECA it certified that all the devices that possess the WiFi would be compatible between yes, assuring then that is fulfilled by the criteria stipulated in the protocol that establishes the norm IEEE 802.11. In I make concrete, to what concerns the common user, this technology allows to establish connections to Internet without any type of cables and can be in any place that has established a hotspot WiFi.
This wireless network works by means of waves of radio which allow us to interconnect devices and to accede to Internet without need to use cables, or complicated configurations, allowing thus a better mobility and use of the computer.
The modem are devices that obtain Internet of the supplier ISP by means of a connection to a cable of telephonic line, for DSL, RDSI or sign satelital. In the back part of they connects the ADSL cable or cable of telephone that allows that the Internet sign should come then to be transmitted to the computer.
If one wants to expand the Internet sign to more computers they use a Router which turns the wired signal in wireless and sends it for a sign of shock waves, which must come to other computers to return to transform in a wired signal
Advantages:
they Can connect to Internet across a point of access of wireless network. The above mentioned point of access (or hotspot) has a scope of approximately 20 meters in interiors and outdoors a major distance.
Big areas can cover the overlapping of multiple points of access. On having been wireless networks, the comfort that they offer is very superior to the wired up networks because anyone that has access to the network can connect from different points inside a sufficiently wide range of space.
Once formed, the networks Wi-Fi allow the access of multiple computers without any problem or expense in infrastructure, not this way in the technology for cable.
The Wi-Fi Alliance assures that the compatibility between devices with the brand Wi-Fi is total, with what in any part of the world we will be able to use the technology Wi-Fi with a total compatibility.
Disadvantages:
One of the disadvantages that has the system Wi-Fi is a minor speed in comparison to a connection with cables, due to the interferences and losses of sign that the environment can transport.
The fundamental disadvantage of these networks exists in the field of the safety. There exist some programs capable of capturing packages, being employed with his card Wi-Fi at mixed up way, so that
