Should abortion be legal or illegal? This is one of the most controversial topics today. Many people argue that the women should have the right to decide if they have an abortion or not. After all the baby is growing inside of their own body. However is this committing a crime? Isn't terminating a life a crime?

Now a days it seems like woman are more afraid of bringing a child into the world then to face the risks and consequences that an abortion might bring along with it. An abortion not only ends the pregnancy in a cruel and inhumane way for the baby but it also puts the women’s life in danger. Having an abortion is more risky than pregnancy or childbirth.

Abortion isn't as “safe and easy” as many people make it out to be. Studies suggest that women who abort face a 50% increase in breast cancer. If the woman has a family history of breast cancer, this rate doubles with each successive abortion. Abortions also increases the risk of a condition called Abruptio placenta, this is a condition in pregnancy where the sac holding the baby tears away from the uterine line.This can result in extreme and severe life threatening bleeding. Women who have experienced abortions have a 600% increase in their risk for Abruptio placenta in their future pregnancies.

Having an abortion not only increases the risks of a series of health problems but it also increases the risks of psychological and emotional trauma. 50% of women who have had abortions report experiencing emotional and psychological problems lasting for months or even year. This emotions include, depression, anger, fear, worries with babies or getting pregnant again, nightmares, emotional coldness, failure in future relationships, eating disorders, this emotions even include an increase in alcohol and drug abuse. This are only some of the examples of the emotional problems an abortion can cause. Women don't realize the dangers of having an abortion. That's why the numbers of abortion are so high.

Recent studies in the united states have shown that every third baby dies victim of abortion that means six million babies a year, four-thousand four-hundred every day and one every twenty seconds. forty children who passed the fifth month of pregnancy are aborted every day. Half of all abortions are performed on women who have chosen this as their only method of birth control. Less the 2% of abortions are performed as a result of rape, incest or threat to the life of the mother and the other 98% is held as a means of birth control.

It is clear that there far too many abortions happening in this country, and the saddest thing of all is that most of them are performed for no reason. Are abortions really necessary? Only in certain circumstances some people might say but, Is this the right thing to do?
