Geert Hofstede

Gerard Hendrik Hofstede (3 October 1928, Haarlem) es un influyente psicólogo social, profesor de antropología, ingeniero mecánico y escritor holandés en el campo de las relaciones entre culturas nacionales y entre culturas dentro de las organizaciones. Es autor de muchos libros, incluyendo Culture's Consequences (Consecuencias de la cultura) y Software of the Mind (El software de la mente), co-escrito con su hijo Gert Jan Hofstede.

El trabajo de Hofstede mostró que hay agrupamientos culturales a nivel regional y nacional que afectan el comportamiento de las sociedades y organizaciones, y que son muy persistentes en el tiempo. Desarrolló el llamado Modelo de las Cinco Dimensiones para identificar los patrones culturales de cada grupo, que se detallan en la siguiente tabla:
