Form my last duchess describe the dukes character as you have inferred from his monologue. Discuss how tone helps shape browning's characterization in his monologue.
He is remembering her last wife, how much he loved her and misses her. He feels bad about the death of her wife and is sorry for it do to his feeling towards her. We can see how the duke is sad and feeling sorrow. The reason he killed his wife was because he thought she betrayed him. This shows abnormal psychology of human evil.
Although he misses her he still hates the fact that she loved everyone so easily. That is what led to the fact of betrayal and in consequence the death of the duchess. He also states that no marriage is easy do to many factors, although all of this was in his mind. Also do to the duchess love for everyone he stated that she was a whore that would feel joy with any man she liked.
In summary, we can see what the mind does to ourselves. How paranoia can be a harmful weapon. The poem reflects human evil, most importantly, the human mind. Due to the imagination of the Duke the Duchess was killed. Again stating that to be married wasn’t easy.
From sonnet 43, assuming the poet wishes her readers to share her emotions, how does she use the sounds of words to help get that emotion across?
She uses figures of speech such as metaphor to state what love is, comparing love to our everyday needs. How we need it through out the day to survive. She uses this mostly to picture ourselves with our needs, how we need the sunlight, light, water, etc.
To transmit her emotions to the readers she explained it, describe what love was to her. We can see that she tells what she loves about her love, how proud she is, how gentle he I, etc. Giving us an idea of what love is, to respect the other and to cherish them.
Finally, in her the last lines she tells the reader that love is something that takes time, stating that due to her past she now knew what love was. The author, in all the three parts in which her poem is break down, she states three different answers, for what love is. How love is an important part of our life. How love is everything we love and care about, and how love is made since our childhood, making it more wise do to experience.
