Interview to Nobel Prize for Literature Mario Vargas Llosa

[pic 1]

Good morning, Mr. Vargas Llosa. We all know him by Mario Vargas Llosa, but  what is your full name?

  • Yes, it seems to me that they have always known me like this. My full name is Jorge Mario       Pedro Vargas Llosa.

Still remember your native Arequipa? I guess you should have the best memories there.

  • Now I return to Arequipa, happy to return to my land, after two and a half years. I will donate all my texts to the library of Arequipa. In those texts I have personal notes of so much affection that I received in my city.

Isabel Presley always accompanies you to every visit you have in Peru. How is she?

  • We never hesitate to go anywhere together. Our relationship is more solid than ever, she is incredible. We're even going to watch football at the Santiago Bernabéu

How are your children with Isabel? They are also happy to see you very well

  • They understand that I give myself with an absolute passion in what I believe, even if I am wrong. My last son, Gonzalo, was the one who severely criticized my relationship and I understand it. I think we have improved that aspect.

We have seen that Isabel and you have good tastes to wear. Do they help each other?

  • Maybe it's a bit funny, but Isabel has better tastes than mine. It's my best jury! (laughs)

Even so, I'm not left behind. I do not lose the classic taste that characterizes me at the moment of dressing: a jacket and well polished shoes are essential.

What is your favorite food? I suppose that of La Cuidad Blanca!

-  That's right ! I love Chupe de camarones and Rocoto relleno. Every so often, it causes me to return to Arequipa just to taste that glorious food

Now that you know many countries around the world. Are there any special ones that you like?

  • Latin America, until now, has been the continent of hopes lost, again and again. I have lived much of my life in Spain, but without a doubt, I love Peru.
I feel my roots and blood calling me. I hope to stay in Peru much more than I can.

To finish, what reflection do you leave us today?

  • “Learning to read is the most important thing that has happened to me in my life”.

Thanks a lot for your time. We hope to see you soon.

  • Thanks to you for coming
