REASON/DESCRIPTION/OPERATIONAL CONSEQUENCES
This Service Bulletin is issued further to an operator’s request.
This Service Bulletin details the removal of the installed Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) and Electronic
Control Box (ECB) and the installation of a new APU (model 131-9(A)) and a new ECB (based on
versatile electronic technology).
The new APU and ECB are interchangeable with the current HONEYWELL system if the Aeronautical
Radio Incorporated (ARINC 600) rack connector is modified to avoid an incorrect APU/ECB
combination.
The APU improves system reliability and performance. It also reduces unwanted emissions.
Performance is improved with a 10% bleed air increase in "hot day" conditions with reduced exhaust
gas temperatures.
The menu mode for the Centralized Fault Display System (CFDS) has additional pages with trouble
shooting data shown in clear English.
Accomplishment of this Service Bulletin will satisfy the operator’s request.
The operational/maintenance consequences of this Service Bulletin are covered by the update of the
affected publications detailed in PLANNING INFORMATIONS paragraph K.
