Introduction

There are several methods to learn a language; one of them is the community language learning. It is a type of language learning approach, this method that is applied in community language learning way is that teachers proceed as the language counselor or translator for the period of language learning, while the students are the client in the learning process. In other terms, counseling is one person giving advice, help, and support another who has a problem or is in some way of need. The basic procedures of CLL can thus be seen as derived from the counselor-client relationship. The intention of this method is that it would integrate translation so that the students would disassociate language learning with risk taking. Within this, the progress of the learner's relationship with the teacher is central.

Background

Community Language Learning is the name of a method developed by Charles Curran in the 1970s, exactly Curran in 1972 was inspired by Carl Roger’s view of education. The purpose of this vision is to work in the classroom with the learners as a group and not as a class, due the group need therapy and counseling.

In this method students work together to develop what aspects of a language they would like to learn and the teacher acts as a counselor. Normally, students are in a circle, and the teacher (counselor) is outside the circle, giving them the role of protagonists, and promoting an authentic conversation. The counselor purpose is to focus on the students and their needs.

It is a spontaneous method because it does not follow an exact chain of books, a class syllabus, or something similar. Students will develop on the march, their own syllabus through meaningful conversations in class.

Reasons for the development of the theory

Theory of language

The purpose of this method is the correction of certain defects in speech, so Curran applied this theory in the teaching of foreign languages, to achieve an optimal communicative competence through the technique of psychological advice in the field of learning a language.

By means of this theory emerged two kind of Community Language Learning interaction. These interactions are related with the international view of language un-delaying Community Language Learning elaborated by La Forge "Language is people; language is persons in contact; language is persons in response" (1983: 9).

Theory of learning

Another theory that has a great impact on this method is the theory of learning. This theory talks about counseling learning and its application in the learning process as a technique
