Living Abroad

I have traveled miles to get to Columbus State University. Since the first day that I started to play tennis tournaments I always hoped of be professional. I practiced every day, having long nights doing homework, traveling every week, winning and losing. At the end all of this effort was recompense going to college with a scholarship. In this essay aims to mention the three most common effects of living in a foreign country that literally changed my life from now on.

Since moving to a foreign country there are three effects that have changed my life. Living abroad could be a tempting opportunity for some people, but that could be a useful experience. However, living in a foreign country is an experience that is both exhilarating and daunting. At the same time, it is new challenge and there are memorable days. One of the consequences of living abroad is the difficult time I have being far from my family and hometown. Luckily social networks allow me to be in contact all the time. I just have been away from home for 3 weeks; I guess in a couple months I will miss them more. This make you realize how valuable your family is.

The second main effect is acquiring the culture and traditions of foreign society. Living abroad allow you to emerge yourself in values and habits which are totally different of yours especially when you have minimum language knowledge, communicate with others is hard, even asking for food, the food is different so I suffer for that, sometimes I do not understand what teachers say in class.

The third and perhaps most important effect is personal development and learning a new language. Living away from home makes you more confident and independent. You have to do everything and solve your problem by yourself. You have to be responsible of organizing your life and achieving your goals. In addition, you have to be able to learn a new language to communicate with people in the foreign country. Apart from that, the language has different grammar or pronunciation, so I have study a lot harder.

In conclusion I hope improve my writing and speaking skills, get a good grades and don't drop out any class but the most important to get adapt to a new culture.
