    1. What are some examples of learning a foreign language in an integrative orientation and in an instrumental orientation? Explain two or three situations. In these examples explain which one is higher than the other?

Katheryn wants to learn German and she decides to travel to Germany to teach Spanish in order to learn the language and to know the new culture at the same time. In this case, the highest orientation is Integrative because the only way to learn German is by being in contact with the culture.

The English teacher Oscar wants to teach English at the University. However, he needs to get a Master degree. For this reason, he decides to travel to the United States to take the Master degree from Stanford University. In this situation, the highest orientation is Instrumental because he needs a Master degree to be a university teacher.

For this reason, he decided to practice and improve his speaking ability at home with different activities, such as: listening to music, reading a newspaper, audio recording. These activities are considered intrinsic motivations because he decided to develop his speaking skill.

The intrinsic motivation subtype is towards achievement because he does it to overcome his problem in English class.

   - When Carlos was studying at the Colombo Americano, his teacher used to give him some stickers, stars, chocolates, and even extra points. These activities are considered extrinsic motivation.

The extrinsic motivation type is external regulation because the aim of these actions motivates students. Eventually, they become better.
