SUGAR PRODUCTION
Harvesting. The first step is to harvest sugar cane , which is then cut and collected .
Storage . Sugar cane is washed and weighed to determine their quality , and their fiber content , sucrose and quality.
Picado cane . Sugar cane is cut into machines that process it into smaller pieces .
Milling . The juice of the sugar cane is extracted by pressure . The process is carried out with hot water to extract the maximum amount of sucrose in the fibrous material .
Clarification and refinement. For clarification process temperature rises game to separate a clear juice. Is refined with lime helps remove insoluble compounds. This usually involves treatment with gaseous sulfur dioxide to bleach some types of sugar.
Evaporation. To obtain a syrup with a solids concentration of 55% to 60% the game evaporated , then purified on a clarifier similar to the previous process .
Crystallization . In this process are obtained , and separating the sugar crystals and liquid .
Centrifuged . In this process the crystals and liquid are separated .
Drying and cooling . The still moist sugar is dried with hot air in counterflow and then cooled with cold air in counterflow .
Packaged . The cold and sugar packed in bags and ready for sale.
