The story begins with Nathan but focuses on him and his friends Adam Kendrick, and Shane Fuller Ben Davie. The four are policemen in the sheriff's department in Albany. In their work, the men face difficult situations: theft, drugs, violence and even unexpected corruption within the department in which they work. All these things are consequences, says Nathan at one point in the film, the faults of man with his responsibilities as a father. Arriving home, battle each Javier and a friend of the group, continuing with their families.

The film does a good job in developing different situations between the characters, providing an opportunity for most of the public is related to at least one of them. Adam is a father who provides for his family. His position as the imposing house rules sometimes prevents having a real relationship with their children. Nathan, perhaps the most exemplary among friends father has a teenage daughter who is trying to protect. Being a good father is important because Nathan grew up with an absent father. Shane is a divorced father and lives with pressures in life that test their integrity. David is not a Christian and does not understand why his friends so dependent on their faith. Javier hard struggle to provide for his family and sometimes does not have enough money to put food on the table.

It takes a tragedy for these men realize that being a dad is to pass a name to a child , rather than feed them , and provide more than a roof. Some succeed and some do not, but the actions taken together these friends at the end of the film changed their forever homes.
