LESSON PLAN
TOPIC: THE SUPERLATIVE FORM OF ADJECTIVES
LEVEL: ELEMENTARY
FOCUS
Objectives: * To recognize and use the Superlative forms of adjectives.
* To understand their purpose.
* To use the Superlative correctly in writing and speaking.
- Teacher greets the students and introduces himself.
- Teacher shows on the screen the Objectives of this lesson.
Motivating Activity: 8 min
- Teacher shows some pictures (NOUNS) to be described (ADJECTIVES) by the students.
- Some sentences are written on the board by the students and the teacher for students to realize the patterns.
TEACH 10 min
- From students participation and from the sentences on the board, we set the rules, structures and vocabulary.
- Teacher presents the patterns on the screen and explains the spelling rules for some adjectives, e.g. hot, thin, as well as for: tasty, happy, etc.
- Teacher gives examples.
PRACTICE AND ASSESS 10 min
- Teacher asks the students to watch the pictures and create sentences according to the patterns combining the theory with exercises.
- Students do activity number 1 individually (some comparative sentences are in this activity to refresh students’ knowledge)
- Teacher monitors, answers and asks questions to students: activity number 2.
- Teacher verifies understanding and comprehension.
CLOSE 12 min
- Students work in groups of three or four and talk about sports, music, writers, subjects at the university, cities, etc.
- Students take notes and write 10 sentences using the SUPERLATIVE form correctly.
- As homework students have to do activity number two.
