The Critical Period research to date.
I think that the CPH theory influence in many ways; this theory permits to know that we have to apply different methodologies in education; obviously depends on the age; CPH affirms that younger people will have a quicker learning process and with better results, for that reason teachers are applying different methodologies to teach children and teenagers, for example: the second language teaching with children will be interaction with teachers and their classmates to develop their oral skills and knowledge and create bases to continue to learn, in teenagers the second language teaching is more complete due to teenager's capacity to memorize vocabulary and grammar structures. While the child will learn to construct simple sentences, the teenager will learn to construct very complex conversations and express their feelings. CPH makes clear that we have to use different textbooks, teaching methods, environment to teach to child, teenager and adults.
The Critical Period Hypothesis refers to the idea that the ability to acquire language is related to aging and there is an ideal period of time to attain a language, after which it is no longer possible.
There is something I find very important is that the CPH mentioned that people who learn a second language after having passed the critical period, they fail to have a native accent. This means that the acquisition of the second language in the critical period, in addition to being easier, gives better results than when learning occurs outside the CPH.
