Choroni is a coastal village in the state of Aragua, Venezuela. It is located about 2 miles away from the coastline. The slaves working at the haciendas used to live here. The actual habitants keep up the traditions of the African continent, which are daily expressed in cultural events, like the traditional drums (the famous “tambores”).

Choroní counts with a pleasant nightlife. The malecón (boulevard) is a place to stroll around after a day at the beach, meet other people, have a drink, look at or buy some of local artwork.

BEACHES:

Playa Grande:

This is the most popular beach of the region because its waters is quite strong and surfers enjoy it.

El Diario:

For the more adventurous, this beach is the best choice because nudists often visit it.

Valle Seco:

It is considerated a natural pool, almost without waves. In this place, you can see tropical fish and corals while practicing snorkel.

WHEATER:

Venezuela has only two seasons; summer and winter. During the summer the temperature reaches the 30 degrees Celsius and in the winter that temperature doesn’t differ much.

FOOD:

Choroni offers a gastronomic variety based in seafood and fresh fish. There are restaurants where prepare delicious food and cold drinks. The best of all is that they accept all kinds of payment.

INNS:

Accommodation is not a problem in Choroni. Many places wait for you, from affordable inns until the most luxury with stunning views to a vast turquoise ocean and white sandy beaches with trimmed palmtrees.

Choroní is a place relatively safe compared to others in Venezuela. There's very little criminality, you're able to walk around without any worries, also at night. So, COME AND ENJOY IT!

Every year at the 24th of June Choroní celebrates San Juan Bautista, an event which attracts a large number of national and international tourists. Typical music and dance are preformed with the traditional drums, as a tribute to St. Juan Bautista.

The fishermen get together in the coast to make a maritime procession in honor of the Saint.

The evening of that day is magic because people believe a haircut will bring them good luck and to put an egg in a glass of water will permit them to see the future.
