Yucatan
Yucatan is one of the thirty one states that with the Federal District make the thirty two states of Mexico. the state is located in the southwest of Mexico and in the north of the Yucatan's peninsula,It is bounded on the north by the Gulf of Mexico, southeast of the state of Quintana Roo and southwest by the state of Campeche.
Yucatan is a state full of customs and traditions which translate into wealth, mystery and human warmth.
Dialects
Maya is the dialect characteristic of the region, however, in the city of Merida, is common to hear this dialect among the people traveling to the city for work or business.
Like other traditions and customs, the Mayan dialect is kept alive in state populations since it is transmitted from generation to generation.
Food
Among the most widespread and preserved traditions on Yucatecan's homes is the tipical food. From the pre-Hispanic era to the present day have emerged, seasonings, stews and desserts liked by young and old people.
The culinary tradition shows a part of our rich heritage and cultutural. as an example of the variety of Yucatecan food we can name among its soups and broths, beef stew with vegetable garnish, chocolomo with fresh meat beef and lime soup served with fired tortilla.
Among the snacks and stews regional, its savored the chirimole, motuleños eggs, chicken and cochinita pibil, beans with pork, venison meat, turkey stuffing, papatzules, panuchos slbutes, codzitos, and cheese filling meat.
The main point of the Yucatecan food are the ingredients, which preserve the strong and unmistakable flavor, between include: the axiote, recaudos red, black and white, red onion, seed, oregano, epazote, chile abanero, etc.
Important complement of the Yucatecan food, are the desserts, which are made with typical fruits, we can not skip the traditional drinks and snacks that are must-haves to make your trip to Merida unforgettable.
Dresing
The tradition about the dress still conserved the Yucatan's outfits caracteristics, that was used in ancient times, women used today white dresses with colorful embroidered flowers around the neckline and armhole. on the shoulders gracefully carry a shawl. The shoes are white and with a heel width, braided her hair in a bun "chongo" and often decorate with metal combs, bone or tortoiseshell.
The Yucatec man, used traditionally baggy pants and white guayabera and pale colors like blue, green or yellow, on occasion the shirt is embroidered with white flowers on the pleated front. Footwear is the traditional espadrille with high heel and palm hats.
