What are the 7 wonders of the ancient world

All we have ever heard of the 7 wonders of the ancient world, of those architectural constructions considered authentic masterpieces. As of today only one is still standing, and although he has spoken to rebuild some of the other, it has never been made reality. Also, there are also the 7 wonders of the modern world, but do you really know what those 7 monuments that were considered a must-visit?

The Pyramids of Giza.

This is the only one of the seven wonders of the ancient world that still standing and can be visited in Egypt. It is a group formed by three pyramids - Cheops, Chefren and last Egyptian Pharaoh - and are located on the outskirts of Cairo.

The gardens of Babilonia

Dating back to the VI century BC, they were in the city of Babylon, the present-day Iraq, on the shores of the Euphrates River. The construction consisted of a series of stone terraces that are maintained by large arches, in such a way that, when viewed from below, the garden seemed a high suspended staircase overflowing with flowers.

The Temple of Artemis

This marvel was in Ephesus, Turkey, erected for the first time about the year 550 ac dedicated to the goddess Artemis, being the king of Lydia Creso, who promoted its construction

The statue of Zeus

Sculpted by Phidias, the largest Greek sculptor, toward the 430 ac in Olympia and in honor of the king of the gods. He was 12 meters of height, width occupied the whole of the aisle of the temple.

The Mausoleum of Halicarnaso

Was built approximately 353 ac and stood in the Greek city of Halicarnaso, current Bodrum (Turkey). Artemis did build in honor of her husband Mausolus.

The Colossus of Rhodes

Was built between 294 BC and 282 BC to the entrance of the city of Rhodes, in the island of Rhodes (Greece). It was a statue of the god Helios, who had a pedestal of between 15 and 20 meters and a skeleton of iron, lined with bronze, of between 30 and 32 meters; so that the statue stood at a total height of almost 50 meters. Remained in foot until in the year 226 ac was toppled by an earthquake.

The lighthouse of Alexandria

Was built in the third century BC by Socrates of Cnido for Ptolemy II, on the island of Headlights in Alexandria (Egypt) to serve as a point of reference of the port and as a lighthouse. Erected on a platform with a square base, had a height of 134 meters
