Asthma

Asthma is a chronic disease of the respiratory system characterized by hyper-reactive airways resulting in recurrent episodes of bronchoconstriction. Complications associated with an asthmatic attack may include hypoxia, pneumothorax, airflow obstruction, and respiratory fatigue. In children the most common triggers are common viruses such as those that cause the common cold.

The most effective treatment for asthma is based on identifying the elements that initiate the crisis, such as pets or aspirin, and limiting or, if possible, eliminating exposure to these factors. If these procedures remain insufficient, then you can resort to medical treatment. Doses and combinations are chosen according to the severity of symptoms. Inhaled agonists are the most effective agents for treatment of acute bronchospasm, and inhaled corticosteroids are the most important for treatment of any form of persistent asthma.

Asthma causes symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath (tachypnea and tachypnea), chest tightness and unproductive cough at night or early in the morning. Asthma symptoms, which can range from something mild to endanger life, usually can be controlled with a combination of drugs and environmental changes since the constriction of the airways usually responds well to modern bronchodilators.

It is very common to find someone close with this illness, but proper treatment options and prompt recognition can reduce the morbidity of this disease.
