Relative clauses

-relative clauses give us information about something or someone in a main clause.

-defining relative clauses are used to identify or define things, ideas, places, time and possessions.

-that's the woman who lost her things yesterday.

-Non- defining relative clauses give information about something in the main clause, but do not help to identify or define it.

-the woman, who lost her things yesterday, is from Chicago.

Relative pronouns

- We use who for people.

- We use which for things.

- We often use that instead of who and which.

- We use whose for possession.

Relative adverbs

- We use where to describe places.

- We use when to refer to time.
