1. Daggerboard (noun) Orza (sustantivo)

-A type of light centerboard that is lifted vertically; often in pairs, with the leeward one lowered when beating.

-Pequeña quilla replegable que pivota en una apertura en el casco de una embarcación.

2. Davit (noun) Pescante (sustantivo)

-A spar formerly used on board ships as a crane to hoist the flukes of the anchor to the top of the bow, without injuring the sides of the ship.

-Es un dispositivo para izar o arriar pesos a bordo de un barco.

3. Davy Jones' Locker (noun) Casillero de Davy Jones (sustantivo)

-A phrase for the bottom of the sea.

-Frase que representa el fondo del océano.

4. Day Beacon (noun) 

-An unlighted fixed structure which is equipped with a dayboard for daytime identification.

-Una estructura de faro sin luz, con adaptación para ser identificada de día.

5. Day-blink (noun)

-Moment at dawn where, from some point on the mast, a lookout can see above low lying mist which envelops the ship.

-Momento al amanecer, en el que desde algun punto del mástil se puede apreciar como la neblina envuelve el buque o navío.

6. Dayboard (noun)

-The daytime identifier of an aid to navigation presenting one of several standard shapes (square, triangle, rectangle) and colors (red, green, white, orange, yellow, or black).

-De dia, es la estructura que asiste la navegación, se presenta en diferentes formas geométricas y diferentes colores.

7. Dead ahead (noun)

-Exactly ahead, directly ahead, directly in front.

-Directamente al frente del bote, frente al bote, delante del bote.

8. Dead in the water (noun)

-Not moving (used only when a vessel is afloat and neither tied up nor anchored).

-Que no se mueve (utilizado únicamente cuando un navío esta a flote sin amarre o anclaje)

9. Draft (noun) Calado (sustantivo)

-The depth of water a boat draws.

-Medida que dicta la profundidad del bote.

10. Dead sea (noun) Mar Muerto (sustantivo)

-Lake between Israel and Jordan 397m below sea level, the lowest lake in the world, with no outlet and very high salinity.

-Lago entre Israel y Jordania 397m por debajo del nivel del mar, convirtiéndolo en el lago más por debajo del nivel del mundo sin salida al mar y altos niveles de sal.

11. Deadeye (noun) Vigota (sustantivo)

-A wooden block with holes (but no pulleys) which is spliced to a shroud. It is used to adjust the tension in the standing rigging of large sailing vessels, by lacing through the holes with a lanyard to the deck.

-Se le llama vigota a una especie de motón chato y redondo con tres agujeros por donde pasan los acolladores para tesar la jarcia firme de un barco.

12. Deadlight (noun) Ventanal (sustantivo)

-A strong shutter fitted over a porthole or other opening that can be closed in bad weather.
