Level V
Specific Objective[pic 2]
To be able to spontaneously express his/her ideas and opinions concerning professional and academic experiences by making connections and using the communicative and linguistic elements worked and reviewed in class.
Dear student:
For your oral exam, you must be prepared. Read this entire document, so that you fully understand what you are asked to do and to respond positively to this task.
Instructions:
- Before your speaking exam you must have watched and of course, have understood the information from the video “8 traits of successful people” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOl0v54DaXo . Your teacher is not playing the video in class; it is your responsibility to be prepared with the video info.
- Below there are some questions to mull over while watching the video; this does not mean that these are the exact questions you are going to be asked, but they can help you to build up your ideas during the speaking progress check.
- What is the video about?
- Why did the speaker start his research about successful people?
- What amazing/outstanding things has the speaker done?
- How did he realize he was sort of successful?
- Can you identify a successful person from the video’s list?
- What careers do these successful people have? Was yours (your major) there?
- What are the most important traits that successful people share? Explain.
Criteria and guidelines:
- This is an oral exam, not a reading exam. Your ability to express your own ideas and understanding without reading is crucial. Use a variety of tenses and the vocabulary you have learned.
- Mind the recommendations and make sure to give a great support to your ideas and to describe coherently your points of view. Short answers are not welcome! Minimum 2 minutes per person.
- Your teacher is not going to give you the meaning of words during this exam neither to clarify points of understanding concerning the video you were asked to watch. You ought to use your own language to communicate.
- Students must be punctually in the classroom according to the indicated time, not after or before.
- See below the rubrics level 5 teachers use for grading your speaking production.
