Death Penalty is not an ethical Punishment
Each country has their own laws and different ways of punishment and penalties to keep order and security in their country .Crimes such as assaults, murders, and violations make an attempt on the whole world and the society which demands justice to make the criminals pay for their actions, but is death penalty the best way to do it? What about the human rights? This theme has led to arguments within each country and some of them have agreed to use it. Death penalty shouldn’t be used anywhere and it is also the worst way to punish criminals.
First of all, let’s remember which article is one of the most important of the Universal Declaration of the Human Rights. It states that everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person, so if we applied the death penalty, we wouldn’t be following this document and everybody could disobey it easily and do whatever they want; besides, the society wouldn’t be treated fairly as we all deserve to be treated. We all have the same rights no matter what have we done and if one of them is not fulfilled we all are going to be vulnerable to anything, because we are not going to be able to trust in any other law or document that could be disrespected anytime.
Another reason is that this penalty not only destroys the people’s moral, but it is also an inhuman act that could be done considering that we are in the middle XXI century where we are supposed to have developed so many things to make our lives easier and better. This penalty shows how cruel can be the human being at the point that we don’t care a person’s life and we just want to do what ever it takes to make everyone follow the laws, but we don’t realize how these affect to both sides, the criminal and the victim. We have to veil for common well-being.
Finally, with these reasons already given, I think that death penalty is neither ethical nor moral. It doesn’t solve problems; on the contrary, it brings more problems because many people disagree with it. We need to look for punishments that, as I mentioned before, are as fair as possible, but that they don’t attempt against the person in his or her rights.
