ICA
Ica is a department located in the south-central part of the country, facing the Pacific Ocean. Its capital is the city of Ica. Ica has population of almost 700,000 inhabitants and an area of 21,305 km2
Its boundaries are: To the north, with Lima, the northwest, Huancavelica, to the east, with Ayacucho, and south to Arequipa.
The department of Ica due to its location in the desert, enjoying a sunny and dry climate throughout the year.
Tourism. Ica offers beaches, diverse marine wildlife, museums and excellent hotel services.
Ica ofrece playas y aguas termales, variada fauna marina, museos de sitio y excelentes servicios de hoteles.
En Ica se encuentra ubicada la Reserva Nacional de Paracas; en ella viven colonias de diversos animales, como lobos marinos y aves costeras de diversos tipos.Ica is located in the Paracas National Reserve, in her living colonies of various animals, such as sea lions and shorebirds of various types.
Huacachina: One of the most popular places to visit in Ica is La Huacachina. The famous desert oasis is located 5km. from Ica. It’s a small lake with medicinal water, lying in the middle of a spectacular sand desert. You can try sports such as sandboard or other sports of the sand. Also taking dune buggy rides on the sand dunes that stretch several hundred feet high.
Cachiche: is a small village near Ica. Cachiche is well known for its history of witches. Doña Julia, cachiche’s first witch, was known to practice “good magic”
Islas ballestas
The Ballestas Islands are part of one of the largest nature reserves in Peru. They are in Pisco but can be accessed by the city of Paracas. It consists of a cluster of small islands composed of rock formations where there is a great diversity of marine life as Peruvian penguins are endangered, sea lions and birds guaneras. It is located 260 km south of Lima.
The abundant life that exists in Paracas Bay and the islands is made possible by the cold Humboldt current.
The Humboldt penguin is the only penguin species in Peru. Lives in the desert coasts of Peru and Chile and spends most of its life at sea, in the Peruvian Humboldt Current.
